Plans for the summer

Like I said in my NaNo post yesterday (and let’s be honest, I’ve probably been mentioning it for months), I’ve finished high school! There’s going to be some more emotional posts coming, and probably even more celebratory ones, but basically I have nothing to do from now until February. I don’t do so well being cooped up for too much time, so I need a lot of things to keep my mind from going insane. That means lots and LOTS of projects, and you’re going to be seeing most of them!

The first, I talked about yesterday; time to finish my first ever novel draft, helpfully started by NaNo. This is the project you won’t see, until I’m a famous published author, of course. I want to get on to editing too, but let’s just start with finishing a draft first, okay?nano

The second is something I talked about ages and ages ago, part of the beginning of the big blog change. I said that I wanted to get into photography (proof here), and do you think I did anything about that? No, of course not! It was a promise that faded away into nothing, and I never really acted on it. For December, I’m giving myself a challenge; take a photo every single day. Not necessarily Instagram worthy, or even Snapchat worthy, just a photo of something that I like. Maybe a selfie, maybe the sky, just a photo! Ideally this is going to encourage me to take photos more regularly on an everyday basis, and to actually get out of my house and do something worthy of taking a photo of. I’m also planning on reviving my bookstagram, so go see what I do there!Camera

The next revival is of my YouTube channel – not that it’s dead, it just needs more tender loving care. Maybe a schedule, some more YouTube friends, maybe actually some more subscribers? I know, I know, do it for me, but still! This isn’t specifically a December project, which is what’s going to happen for part of the other two, it’s just a whole summer project. It’ll be one year of my channel in January, so maybe I could do some sort of thing then?YouTube

Don’t worry, my blog isn’t missing out on any of this! I have a couple of exciting posts planned that are coming up, and I want to start some sort of system for way more guest posting. I love having guests on here, I want it to happen more often during 2017! Like with YouTube, I’ll probably get a more solid schedule, since life is going to be chaotic once I start moving out. I want some different sorts of posts, too; I don’t want to limit myself to life updates and book posts, I can go broader than that! Ideally, I’d really love to get to a 1000 followers sometime soon, and at 700 I don’t think that’s completely crazy? Obviously, there’s no criteria I need to follow to do that, it’s just a goal I’m putting out there. Actually, my blog seems to be going really well at the moment, so we’ll see how many changes go on. It’ll most likely be end of December/January when I start something big, that’s when the insanity will set in. doodles-and-scraps-header

I think my time will be pretty full with all of this going on! At least, that’s what I hope. If there’s something you’d like to see on my blog or my channel, please let me know! And let me know how you’d fill all this free time if it were you right now (or, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, how you’re not going insane?)

I was a book blogger for a while, and I now blog about every little thing in life I can think of. Bear with me while I try all these new posts out... I'm a New Zealand teen who gets angry about the world (but not angry enough for tumblr). I like to capture the world through photos and words, and read in all the moments in nz-squadbetween. I have an overwhelming desire to see every corner of the world I possibly can, and hug the people I love in all those corners. I can't do make up to save myself, and you're more likely to find me buying matching stationary than matching clothes. My nerd hobbies include a new found love of the Avengers, reading YA, watching Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, and every vlogger I can find, and being the last person on the music bandwagons. I have big plans for the rest of my life, including university, teaching, travelling, and having an army of puppies. I plan to blog every second of it!
