Over the last week and a half, I’ve been frantically packing in my practice exams. There’s really no point for these; they’re just to let you know how much you know, and reassure you that you can maybe pass at the end of the year. Considering my lack of study, I did surprisingly well!
Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. Classics (studying ancient Rome) was the subject I was most concerned about. I felt like I barely knew anything, and wasn’t prepared at. All. I managed to pass my essay on the Aeneid (the text we read), and my essay on architecture… Fail. I’m a nerd, I don’t fail much, but I failed this, ughh.
Moving on, quickly! English was apparently one of the worst results they’ve marked in a really long time, and when we were being told that only 6 people got excellence, being the top grade possible. And I was one of them!!! In both my novel and my film essay I got excellence, so I’m really happy.
In history, I got merit (the second highest grade) in my essay on the Munich massacre, which I think I should be able to improve by the real exams. And my resource interpretation was an excellence, yay!
Media studies was another disappointing merit, but no one in the class got an excellence, so not too bad at all. Again, I’m pretty sure I can fix it up easily enough.
Why do you care? Basically, this is an indication of how well I’m going to do in the proper exams. And that’s hugely important, because it not only determines if I pass the year, but also if I get university entrance. Looking at these results, I should breeze through, so it’s good to know I don’t have to worry!
