The Blurb of the Book
With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.
My Thoughts During the Book
My (more coherent) Thoughts After the Book
Let’s talk about the most important thing; the romance. Everything Blue and Simon say to each other is cute and perfect and adorable. Yes, it’s done online, and that’s potentially annoying for some readers. For me, though, it was fantastic. I think they made a really great, genuine connection, even if they didn’t meet for such a long time. And I think that just proves how important it is to find things you have in common with someone more than liking what they look like, which is such an important message.
The thing that annoyed me the most was Blue’s lack of enthusiasm to meet. If my online friends lived that close to me, I would be with them every hour of the day! I understood that Blue was shy, but obviously Simon wasn’t someone who was going to judge him, particularly before Blue found out who he actually was. It let the book down a little bit for me, because I couldn’t get that quite important aspect to make sense in my head.
And yes, the ending worked really well. I was surprised, although there was one clue in there that had me thinking I knew who it was. I had a theory on who I thought it was, and I was fully convinced throughout the entire book that it was this character, so that made it impossible for me to even consider the possibility of it being someone else. That’s what makes the book so good though. You don’t guess it, and even if you do work it out, there are really no clues towards who it could be until you find out at the very end. I love a mystery type romance like that.
Overall, I’m so happy I’ve finally read this book! I absolutely adored it, and I would really recommend it for the hopeless romantics out there
This has been on my wish list forever!

I thought it was Nick! I decided he wasn’t flirting with Abby, but that he told her about the emails and was asking for advice. Then they started dating, which really ruined my theory… And yes, I wanted Oreos so much!

I THOUGHT THAT TOO! Haha, it was fitting so perfectly, but at the same time I was like that would be way to predictable of a plot. I’m glad that it wasn’t. I also liked that we really had to guess who it was! I didn’t think for a second that it would be who it actually was!

Yeah, I was a bit worried that I’d managed to guess it so early! I was so surprised when the real person was revealed 🙂
