A little while ago, I wrote a post telling you all about the Harry Potter re read and re watch I’m doing with a group of online friends.
Last weekend, we watched the first movie together! For those of you who couldn’t be there (or who didn’t know this was going on!), here’s what you missed…
- Confusion from the newbies. There were a few of us who hadn’t read the books until now, or hadn’t finished the series, or hadn’t seen the movies before. There’s nothing sweeter than seeing people experience the movies for the first time! I remember my first time (oo-er), but it was so many years ago… This included tweets like:
So someone explain to me. Did Hagrid take the broken pieces of his wand and put them into his umbrella? #2016HPreread
— Bex @ Aurelia Lit (@AureliaLit) February 1, 2016
Among others. Things that seem like second nature to you and I Potter nerds.
2. Foreshadowing HOLY HELL. I’ll just leave this here for those of you who know what I was talking about…
“Together, we can bring them back.” GUYS, how have I never noticed that foreshadowing?!? #2016hpreread

3. Aww, the itty bitty kiddos! Honestly, at least the first half hour of the movie was us going “Look at him! Look at her!” Seriously, how were they so small??
4. A little bit of criticism:
Umm, sorting is meant to be in alphabetical order, stop #2016hpreread

When I first saw this movie in the theatre the flying scenes seriously made me so nervous. That part of the world just no. #2016HPreread

We will buy the WHOLE TROLLEY. You can’t stop me, I’m HARRY POTTER #2016hpreread

Ahh yes, when Harry couldn’t pick up a single letter… How is this guy a Seeker?? #2016hpreread

5. Boys boys boys (with a couple of girls). As soon as Quidditch happened, we started reminiscing over how madly in love we were with Oliver Wood. Wasn’t that guy sexy as heck?? I think it was the smirk combined with the accent that made him perfect… From there, there was a fight to the death for everyone else we wanted dibs on. I ended up with James, Fred, and George (yussss!). I think everyone has been taken by this point – except for maybe Flitwick… This conversation is still going on today, because there are so many perfect characters in this book! Luckily there were only two of us interested in the girls, so we have our pick of basically whoever we want! With two drunk girls in the group, it made the dibsing even more hilarious
So, basically, it was a lot of fun! I can’t wait to watch the next movie in February! These girls are awesome, and they’re making my however-many-re-read stand out more than a lot of the other ones. So YAY YOU GUYS ❤
If you want to join, just let me know! We’re definitely up for welcoming some newbies to the group, even if you only want to watch, or only read, or only go from book five. Whatever it is, we want you with us! Just let me know and I’ll add you to the Twitter group. Oh, and if you want to see what else you missed, just check out #2016HPreread
Some of those tweets gave me a giggle! Hope you enjoy the rest of you re-read/re-watch 🙂

Hey is there a way so that my contacts won’t be able to get my Twitter (cos I’m anonymous) because when I was signing up it said ‘here’s some people you could follow’ and it had some of my contacts…

I think as long as you don’t follow them it’s okay? Or there might be a way to disconnect it from your phone. But I’m not entirely sure sorry!
