Harry Potter Group Read

In case you don’t know, I’m part of the Sunday Street Team, where we get books to be part of blog tours. On Twitter, the SST has a group chat, which we were encouraged to talk on a little. When we all introduced ourselves, it came up that some of us were completely in love with Harry Potter. But it’s been way too long since we’ve re read them! Some of us hadn’t read it at all :O

So what did we decide to do? Well, we made a new group chat, dedicated to planning a group (re) read of the entire Harry Potter series. I. AM. SO. EXCITED.

To make sure there isn’t too much pressure on anyone, we’ve decided on a book a month, starting with the Philosopher’s Stone in January. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE. Once everyone has read the book, we’re going to watch the movie together as a group. There will be two ‘showings’, because time zones are stuffing up all of us getting to watch at the same time. For the Philsopher’s Stone, we have:

Sunday January 31st (Time TBD) & Saturday February 6th (Time TBD)

While the group did start from the Street Team, absolutely everyone is welcome to join. You don’t have to start this month even – if you don’t want to join until book four, that’s fine too! I would love to have some more people joining in on this, so if you’re interested, just tweet me @Addlepates so I can add you to the group. You can follow along with our chat on the hashtag #2016HPreread.

If you have any questions, also let me know, in the comments, or on Twitter! Happy reading!

  1. oh yeah I rememer this conversation in the group. I’m currently reading the series this year (first-time reader) I’m also trying to make it a book a month but I don’t plan on watching the movies until I’m completely done

      1. Well I’m defintely tempted but I would like to stay in the dark about the HP plot (even though I do remember things from the movie) and since this is a re-read thing it won’t be unsual if spoilers start to leek

  2. A Harry Potter reread is always a great idea! I won’t read along with you unfortunately as I’m planning my own Pottery adventure in July, I’m going to go crazy and download all the audiobooks and listen to all of them in July (she says) – because who wouldn’t want to listen to Stephen Fry talk for so long! What you’re doing sounds really awesome though 🙂

      1. Absolutely! He did a little talk show here a month back or so and was discussing the recording of the audiobooks, apparently in the first book there was the phrase, “Harry pocketed it”, and Fry just couldn’t say it right. He asked JK if it could just be, “Harry put it in his pocket” but she said no and to make his life difficult (all in jest of course) she put it in every single other book haha. So I’m quite keen to hear him tackle that phrase haha

  3. Wow. Your granddad sounds like an amazing person. I’m sad you had to lose him — I connect with your grief. But he’ll always be by your side with all his love and blessings. ❤

    1. Oh sh*t, I switched comments on two different posts! Eeeek!!! Anyway, what I was TRYING to say here is that your group read sounds amazing! (Well, anything HP is automatically amazing, isn’t it? 😉 ). I’d join but I’m not on Twitter. 😦

      1. It does. 😦 I’m actually still thinking about whether or not I should join Twitter. I’m… not really a social media person, to be honest (my fb’s been inactive for years now, I think) but Twitter does sound tempting to try out — at times. Especially the group chats and stuff (I have VERY less idea about the whole thing, though 😛 ). It’ll probably be some time before I join it (if I ever DO join it).

Btw, sorry about that comment-switching mistake again! That was so weird! *blushes from embarrassment*

      2. I completely know what you mean. I use my twitter purely for blog related stuff, so I really just go on there to talk to other people. You can always try then delete it! 🙂
Hahaha, don’t worry about it 😛

  4. I started my HP re-read in August last year but kind of stopped after I read Order of the Pheonix in November. Do you know when you guys read Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows? I’d probably be able to join in with that! 🙂
