Exploring My Bookshelves (#35) – A Scary Book

Exploring My Bookshelves is a weekly meme created over here at Addlepates and Book Nerds, and co-hosted with Shannon @ For the Love of Words. For more info on how it works, have a look here

This week, Shannon wants to know about…

UGH

Your Thriller And Horror Books

Except, I am a complete coward, so, unsurprisingly, I don’t own any of these. My mum owns a few Stephen King books, but I haven’t read them and don’t plan to. Instead, I have books that I found scary (wuss that I am). These include Department 19 and the Poison Garden. I can’t even remember what it was about them, but when I look at them I get that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach…wpid-20151009_114441.jpg

There was also a book that I no longer own, and I cannot remember the name of it. These kids got stuck in a basement on their trip to the beach, they were locked in by their crazy person they were staying with. Does anyone have even the slightest idea what I’m talking about?

Are you a coward, or do you love horror? What are your plans for Halloween?

  1. Department 19 is awesome. I enjoyed the first sequel, and the third book wasn’t bad but I haven’t read the last two books yet. I like horror. But after years of reading and watching it, there isn’t much that scares me anymore–not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

  2. Excellent post! I have been wanting to participate in this for the last two weeks, but I didn’t have any books that fit the category the last two times. However, I have a ton of horror and thriller books; as they are one of my favorite genres. So I was able to participate. YAY!! I feel you, on the coward things. Even though I love horror and thrillers, I still get so scared. I startle very easy, so I don’t understand why I am addicted to the genre.
