Thanks to #LoveBooks for the nomination! Here’s how it works:
Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to and write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post and link your post to Edge of Night.
How My Blog Began…
This is a pretty common question bloggers get, and I’ve never thought of a really good answer. I remember I was on Goodreads, and everyone always talked about their blogs. I was already writing reviews on Goodreads, so coming here seemed like the logical next step. And even though I still post reviews over there, blogging here is so much more fun! I’m kind of addicted to doing memes and tags like this one.
The problem? I can’t remember why I joined Goodreads. I know I joined years ago, but only got back into it recently. There must be a story there, right? Only I didn’t realise it was something I was going to become so interested in, and somewhere I would spend so much of my free time. So yes, I can tell you the story of how my blog started. I just can’t tell you how I got to the first step…
My Advice For You…
- Be patient. Starting a blog is hard work, and I made the mistake of thinking it would be easy to get myself out there. It’s not. There are loads of blogs posting book reviews, or make-up tutorials, or whatever it is you want to talk about. And not everyone wants to open a new one. Yes, it kind of sucks that no one is reading anything you post. But trust me, YOU WILL GET THERE. It just takes time, that’s all
- Followers aren’t everything. There are blogs out there with hundreds or thousands of followers. I look at them, then look at my pidly 200 and something, and get really upset about it. But, recently I’ve realised it doesn’t matter. Okay, so I have hardly any compared to some people. But I have loads compared to when I first started. And I have loyal followers, who really like my blog. I have people like #LoveBooks who nominated me for this award, and people like For the Love of Words who loves Exploring My Bookshelves so much she carried on when I was away, and people who missed me while I was in America. Yes, there aren’t a lot, but I love each and every one of you so so so so much! And that’s way better than having a thousand followers who only occasionally like my posts
So, that’s my story! I hope my tips were useful to you, whether you’re new to blogging or have been here forever. The people I nominate for this are:

- Bookmark Chronicles
- Trisha Ann
- Partners In Books

And anyone else who hasn’t done this tag before!
