Blogger Recognition Award

Thanks to #LoveBooks for the nomination! Here’s how it works:

Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to and write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post and link your post to Edge of Night.

How My Blog Began…

Rewind

This is a pretty common question bloggers get, and I’ve never thought of a really good answer. I remember I was on Goodreads, and everyone always talked about their blogs. I was already writing reviews on Goodreads, so coming here seemed like the logical next step. And even though I still post reviews over there, blogging here is so much more fun! I’m kind of addicted to doing memes and tags like this one.

The problem? I can’t remember why I joined Goodreads. I know I joined years ago, but only got back into it recently. There must be a story there, right? Only I didn’t realise it was something I was going to become so interested in, and somewhere I would spend so much of my free time. So yes, I can tell you the story of how my blog started. I just can’t tell you how I got to the first step…

My Advice For You…

Advice

  1. Be patient. Starting a blog is hard work, and I made the mistake of thinking it would be easy to get myself out there. It’s not. There are loads of blogs posting book reviews, or make-up tutorials, or whatever it is you want to talk about. And not everyone wants to open a new one. Yes, it kind of sucks that no one is reading anything you post. But trust me, YOU WILL GET THERE. It just takes time, that’s all
  2. Followers aren’t everything. There are blogs out there with hundreds or thousands of followers. I look at them, then look at my pidly 200 and something, and get really upset about it. But, recently I’ve realised it doesn’t matter. Okay, so I have hardly any compared to some people. But I have loads compared to when I first started. And I have loyal followers, who really like my blog. I have people like #LoveBooks who nominated me for this award, and people like For the Love of Words who loves Exploring My Bookshelves so much she carried on when I was away, and people who missed me while I was in America. Yes, there aren’t a lot, but I love each and every one of you so so so so much! And that’s way better than having a thousand followers who only occasionally like my posts

So, that’s my story! I hope my tips were useful to you, whether you’re new to blogging or have been here forever. The people I nominate for this are:

  1. Bookdreamer24
  2. Paperback Beauty Pageant
  3. Vedakpudi
  4. Kira
  5. Bookmark Chronicles
  6. Bianca
  7. Trisha Ann
  8. Partners In Books
  9. Big City Bookworm
  10. Frodo
  11. Melanie Anne
  12. A Half-Blood Fangirl
  13. Shannon
  14. A Well Read Woman
  15. Rachael

And anyone else who hasn’t done this tag before!

I was a book blogger for a while, and I now blog about every little thing in life I can think of. Bear with me while I try all these new posts out... I'm a New Zealand teen who gets angry about the world (but not angry enough for tumblr). I like to capture the world through photos and words, and read in all the moments in nz-squadbetween. I have an overwhelming desire to see every corner of the world I possibly can, and hug the people I love in all those corners. I can't do make up to save myself, and you're more likely to find me buying matching stationary than matching clothes. My nerd hobbies include a new found love of the Avengers, reading YA, watching Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, and every vlogger I can find, and being the last person on the music bandwagons. I have big plans for the rest of my life, including university, teaching, travelling, and having an army of puppies. I plan to blog every second of it!

  1. Thanks for nominating me, Miss Victoria! I really appreciate it. I’m glad we find each other’s blogs interesting. It says vbooksunveiled posted this comment, and I am actually vedakpudi who you nominated for the blog Bookzillan Society. I just changed my username to a perm. one. It feels great to have been nominated by such a experienced blogger! Thanks again!
